Singer-songwriter Jim Ranger was born in Newport, Arkansas and now resides in Bakersfield, California. Raised on Muscle Shoals, country, and southern gospel music, he can’t help but have a foundation of Americana music in everything that he sings. Jim dedicates his life to helping bring people to a place where they feel all the feels, they think about life in a simplistic and beautiful way, all the while, making their foot tap a little.
With big vocals, charisma, and skill, Jim impressed music legends Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani on season 19 of NBC’s The Voice, where Jim eventually placed runner-up on an incredibly talented season. During his run on Team Blake, besides being coached by “The Big Cowboy,” he also had the privilege of being coached by Kane Brown and Usher. Jim continues to make music with friends, perform at sold-out shows and create authentic songs of hope and heartbreak. Faith, family, and whiskey are a few of his favorite things, and his mantra is simple… “be a nice human.”
